Welcome
In 2021, Dr. Ray Chandrasekara, together with Drs. Angela Dominelli and Dr. Barry DeCoster hosted the Coalition for Change, a group composed of students, staff, and faculty to establish and maintain meaningful conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion and create a welcoming and inclusive campus focused on mutual respect, fostered by dialogue and illustrated by a pattern of civil interaction.
Today, the Coalition for Change has evolved into the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) led by Jonathan Phipps, Assistant Vice President of DEI.
Learn how you can be more inclusive
It is increasingly important to communicate appropriately with the expanding focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our society. What you say, and what others hear are not always the same thing. You should know, that ASHP has developed several free educational activities to foster effective communication with others as an approach to addressing healthcare disparity. They have developed several activities about the fundamentals of inclusive conversations and have several others planned for the future.
We hope these activities will help you recognize, understand, and appreciate the value of others’ perspectives, backgrounds and experiences.

One of a 7-part DEI series, this activity will share strategies for promoting more inclusive conversations and navigating discussions about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in your health-system pharmacy practice.

What you say, and what others hear are not always the same thing! In this activity, frontline scenarios with practical and professionally developed solutions will help to ensure your negotiations are not sidelined with inaccurate communications.
